Colleges

Alfred State College Founded in 1908 as an agricultural college, Alfred State College is a unique educational institution. The college offers a complete spectrum of technical education spanning from the vocational technologies in auto mechanics, auto body repair, diesel mechanics, construction building trades, computer-aided design and drafting, microcomputer repair, and food service through the four-year bachelor degree program in mechanical, electrical, Electro-mechanical, and surveying engineering technology; and including two-year associate degree offerings in engineering technology, allied health (nursing, medical laboratory technician, etc.) agriculture, horticulture, business, liberal studies, and computer science.

Alfred University Founded in 1836, Alfred University is known for its scholarly excellence and diversity of academic and professional programs. The non-sectarian University comprises the privately endowed College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Business and Administration, School of Engineering, the Graduate School and a School of Ceramic Engineering and Science.

Houghton University Houghton University is a coeducational, four-year liberal arts institution founded and maintained by The Wesleyan Church. The first college-level courses were offered at Houghton in 1889 and the University received its permanent charter in 1927. In 1969, Buffalo Bible Institute merged with Houghton University, giving the University a Buffalo campus which offers a two-year liberal arts program.

New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University The College which shares housing and dining facilities as well as some classroom space and faculty expertise with Alfred University, was established in 1900. The internationally acclaimed School of Art and Design offers students the opportunity to work with recognized artists in some of the nation’s finest art facilities. The curriculum features a broad-based fine arts program with undergraduate offerings in design, painting, video, printmaking, photography, glass, ceramics and sculpture.
