    2023 Residential Application

    Electronic Waste and Television Collection Program

    Allegany County will hold four Electronic Waste Collection events, at the Belmont Transfer Station, in 2023 with longer hours- 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    All materials defined by the NYSDEC as Covered Electronic Equipment will be accepted.  This includes computers, computer accessories, televisions, video games, and multimedia players.  For a full list of acceptable items, please visit the NYSDEC website or refer to our “The Resource” for additional information or you may contact Tim Palmiter, the Recycling Coordinator, at 585.268.7282.

    What’s Recyclable/What’s Trash

    PAPER

    Accepted:   Newspapers, magazines, paper, junk mail, envelopes

    How to Prepare:  Keep Dry

    Not Accepted:  Any paper product with wax or contaminated food (please discard)

    CARDBOARD

    Accepted:  Cereal boxes, shoe boxes, corrugated cardboard, brown paper bags, etc…

    How to Prepare:  Flatten all boxes, Keep Dry

    Not Accepted:  Padded mailing envelopes, detergent boxes, wax-coated containers, manila folders

    PLASTIC

    Accepted:  Plastic containers, bottles, and jugs with #1-#7 on the bottom, including items such as milk jugs, water bottles, laundry detergent, shampoo, yogurt, and butter tubs.

    How to Prepare:  Clean with lids removed

    Not Accepted:  Black Plastic, styrofoam, food and candy wrappers, toys, non-containers.

    GLASS

    Accepted:  All glass containers, bottles, jars that are clear, green, or brown

    How to Prepare:  Clean.  Remove and discard metal rings and lids.  Labels do not need to remove.

    Not Accepted:  Glass containing lead, such as auto glass and window glass, cannot be recycled.

    CANS

    Accepted:  Most metal cans we use every day can be recycled.  Recycle steel, tin, and aluminum cans.

    How to Prepare:  Clean

    Not Accepted:  Aerosol Cans, aluminum foil, pie tins, or trays.

    LEAD-ACID BATTERIES

    These are found in motor vehicles, lawnmowers, Power Wheel type ride-on toys and other applications and accepted at all County Transfer Stations during regular business hours.

    SCRAP METAL

    Accepted at all County Transfer Stations during regular business hours.
