What happens to the plastic we collect?

The remainder of the plastics are pelletized and sold to other users.

Tons and Revenues

In 2023, Allegany County Residents diverted 75.11 tons of plastic from the waste stream. The revenue of $6,893 helped offset the price of the Residential Disposal Permits and Disposal Tickets.
