Employment Counseling
Applicants and recipients can receive help to complete employment applications, prepare a resume, improve interviewing skills, and more. These services are generally provided through the County’s Employment & Training Center.
Job Readiness Skills
Classes are held regularly. Topics include personal appearance, communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management, balancing work and family, and more. The Department of Social Services and the Employment and Training Center share in the provision of these services.
Employment Subsidies
It can be difficult to land that first job. For that reason, we can generally provide employers with financial assistance during a new worker’s training period, creating a win-win situation for the business and the worker.
Post-Employment Services
Support is available to those who get jobs, including case management, literacy services, GED classes, and help to upgrade to higher positions. Most recipients are required to participate in these services.
