Central Receiving, featuring new paintings by Trevor Bennett (2012 alum), will open with a reception at the Cohen Gallery on September 6, from 6-8pm. The exhibition will run through October 1. Gallery hours are 12 noon to 4pm on weekdays, and 1-3pm weekends. In his exhibition statement Bennett says “I like to pretend that my studio is the embodiment of a disordered shipping department – an ever-growing pile of images. I often paint to obscure or erase. I remove in an effort to organize. Centrally located on Main Street in the village of Alfred, the Cohen Gallery is an educational art center, an ever-evolving creative hub and gathering space for students, faculty, and the community at large. The gallery presents artwork by School of Art and Design faculty, staff, visiting artists, alumni and facilitates community-based projects. Students assist in all aspects of gallery management including curation, exhibition design and gallery sales.
