Allegany County is working with a consultant to update the Allegany County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), with intent to review and update the HMP with current hazard history, vulnerabilities, capabilities, and targeted mitigation projects, last completed in 2018. This plan includes a unique annex for all 29 Towns and 10 Villages, as well as Allegany County, and plays a critical role in mitigation planning, flood prevention and emergency response during storm events. It also allows for submission of grant requests when disasters are declared by State and Federal governments. The current plan is available using this link: https://www.alleganyco.gov/departments/ems-fire/hazard-mitigation-plan/ At least one representative from interested entities is invited to participate in this process through attendance at one of three identical meetings located in the large conference room at the Crossroads Center, 6087 SR-19N in Belmont, NY.
