Grow Your Own Workshops by M. L. Wells
online
The “Grow Your Own” Zoom talk from the Alfred Box of Books Library will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 26. We will discuss which varieties to grow based on plant-breeding for taste, size, color, and resistance to disease. Also, we will talk about those self-sowers – plants that come back on their own – which or which not to save.
On Friday, September 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., frost, in all its guises, will be the topic of our discussion – how to forestall as well as weather signs to look out for. Plus: tips on how to sow spinach to overwinter and harvest early.
On Friday, September 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., we will discuss that we are now dealing with the harvest. Consider growing a green-manure-crop: how and what and when. And, if we have time, let’s talk about green bulbs….
On Friday, October 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the discussion will be regarding whether to clean up or not – to spade/till or not. And also, that old (or new) compost pile: what, when, where and how.
And Friday, October 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will be the last session for now; we will discuss leaves, leaves and an abundance of leaves…. Gather them up and mulch the garden! It is time for those fences and nets…. That’s it for now – ‘til spring, read up, plan and dream of next season’s perfect garden! See you in the spring!
These are online presentations offered free of charge through the Alfred Box of Books. For more details visit their event page: http://alfredboxofbookslibrary.org/events/ No pre-registration required, simply click on the link the day of the event.
