Allegany County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Kick-Off Meeting

Crossroads Conference Center 6087 State Route 19N, Belmont, NY, United States
Allegany County is working with a consultant to update the Allegany County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), with intent to review and update the HMP with current hazard history, vulnerabilities, capabilities, and targeted mitigation projects, last completed in 2018. This plan includes a unique annex for all 29 Towns and 10 Villages, as well as Allegany County, and plays a critical role in mitigation planning, flood prevention and emergency response during storm events. It also allows for submission of grant requests when disasters are declared by State and Federal governments. The current plan is available using this link: https://www.alleganyco.gov/departments/ems-fire/hazard-mitigation-plan/ At least one representative from interested entities is invited to participate in this process through attendance at one of three identical meetings located in the large conference room at the Crossroads Center, 6087 SR-19N in Belmont, NY. Meeting dates and times are as follows:
  • January 19, 2023 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • January 25, 2023 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • January 30, 2023 5:30 p.m. –   7:30 p.m.
During these meetings, we will review what hazard mitigation is, project timeline, planning process, participation requirements, and next steps. Representatives do not need to attend all three meetings, as each meeting will review the same material. Please contact Mandi Joyce-Phelps at (585)268-7449 or Amanda.Phelps@alleganyco.gov to confirm which session your representative(s) will be attending with the names and contact information of those that will be in attendance by no later than Tuesday, January 17, 2023, so that we are able to make appropriate accommodations. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. The Allegany County Hazard Mitigation Team looks forward to working with you on this process. Public participation is welcome; however, a survey for public input will be released at a later date.
