Morgan Huang & Friends Concert

Miller Theater 1 Saxon Drive, Alfred, NY

Morgan Huang & Friends – Solo Tenor and Collaborative Concert, accompany by Laurel Buckwalter, Daisy Wu, Christine Perrotta Ziese and University Chorus as the guests artists.

Morgan(Mingren) Huang is a young musician and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Alfred University. He is good at singing and playing the piano, Dan Bou (one string zither). He has visited the United States, Bulgaria, and other countries for academic exchange and performances.

The program includes art songs and folk songs from China, US and Germany.
“Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal” by Roger Quilter and “Three Wishes of Rose ” by Zi Huang
as a beautiful poem, classic German song “Ständchen” by Schubert, ancient Chinese song “Song of Chile,” Guzheng and Piano play “Lin’an Regret”. The first part of the program closes with “The Wind Blows Across the Bridge” and “The Wind Blowing Clouds Floating” are Chinese folk song.
The second part of the program opens with “Ap Jie Lop” is a folk song of Sichuan province and “Comfort Ye My People ” from Handel’s Messiah and “Beautiful Aaziguri” is Xinjiang province’s song of China. Mingren and Christine sing The Oscar for Best Original Song “Shallow.” Christine solo the Chinese song “ Nine Girl.”
And the concert closes with tow Chinese Choral song “On the Side of the Water” and “Jasmine Flower.”

Refreshment will be provided after the concert at Miller Theater lobby.

The AU Orchestra Presents Annual Spring Concert

Miller Theater 1 Saxon Drive, Alfred, NY

The Alfred University Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Lisa Lantz will perform its annual Spring Concert featuring student soloist, Vanessa Gazi.

Take a ride on the Orient Express as the orchestra performs works from Austria, Asia and Norway including Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony,” Strauss’ “Blue Danube Waltz,” Borodin’s “In the Steppes of Central Asia” and Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”
Mark your calendar for Friday, April 14 at 7:30 pm in the Miller Theater. The public is invited to this free concert.

Opening reception for Rose Schreiber’s thesis exhibition, ‘Nature to the dogs.’ Rose is an MFA candidate in Ceramic Art and will offer a gallery talk on April 18 at noon in the gallery and online. Register for the online gallery talk. Open Gallery hours during thesis season are Sunday 1-3pm, Monday & Tuesday 11-4pm.

MFA Thesis exhibitions from the Division of Ceramic Art (CA), Electronic Integrated Arts (EIA) and Sculpture / Dimensional Studies (SDS) are held in the Fosdick-Nelson and Robert C. Turner Galleries weekly from April 8 – May 5, 2023 with receptions on Saturdays from 6-8pm, with the exception of the last exhibition, which will open on Friday. Open Gallery hours during thesis season are Sunday 1-3pm, Monday & Tuesday 11-4pm.
