Nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, Allegany County has a relaxed, unhurried way of life with a full menu of seasonal activities to choose from.

Outdoor recreation is popular in each of the four seasons enjoyed by Allegany County.

Spring

Welcomes fishing, canoeing, bicycling, hiking, horseback riding, tennis, and golf. There are six golf courses within the county and more than 50 golf courses within a 90-minute drive.

Summer

Ushers in long days for hiking, swimming, boating, kayaking, and picnicking, or participating in numerous organized softball leagues.

Fall

Is prime hunting season and also a time to admire the natural beauty of Allegany County’s colorful hillsides.

Winter

Is filled with cross-country skiing, ice skating, tobogganing, and snowmobiling. There are seven major ski resorts within a 50-mile radius.
