PROCLAMATION
Military Appreciation Month – May 2026
WHEREAS, the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces have defended our nation’s freedom, security, and democratic values with courage, honor, and selfless dedication; and
WHEREAS, Military Appreciation Month provides an opportunity for all citizens to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by active-duty service members, veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserve, and military families; and
WHEREAS, the strength of our nation depends not only on those who wear the uniform, but also on the unwavering support of spouses, children, caregivers, and loved ones who stand beside them through times of service and sacrifice; and
WHEREAS, communities across our nation are strengthened by the leadership, integrity, and commitment demonstrated by military personnel both during and after their service; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that we express our deepest gratitude to all who have answered the call to serve and protect the United States of America;
NOW THEREFORE, I, W. BROOKE HARRIS, Chairman of the Allegany County Board of Legislators, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2026 Military Appreciation Month in Allegany County, and encourage all residents to honor the service and sacrifices of our military members, veterans, and their families through recognition, remembrance, and acts of support.
