Legal Notice of Public Hearing – CDBG 2024 Public Infrastructure, Public Facilities, and Community Planning Grant Application

 

Belmont, NY-  Allegany County will hold a public hearing on Thursday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Allegany County Fairgrounds located at 15 North Street, Angelica, NY, 14709 for the purpose of receiving public comments on a proposed Public Infrastructure, Public Facilities, and Community Planning Grant Application. The location of public hearing is accessible to persons with disabilities. If special accommodations are needed for persons with disabilities, those with hearing impairments, or those in need of translation from English, those individuals should contact the Clerk of the Board, Brenda Rigby Riehle by phone 585-268-9220 or by email at brenda.riehle@alleganyco.gov, at least three days in advance of the hearing date to allow for necessary arrangements.

 

Discussion will include the possible submission of one or more Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for the 2024 program year. The CDBG program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR) and will make available to eligible local governments approximately $25 Million in the Federal Fiscal Year 2024 NYS Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program funds for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefitting low/moderate income persons.

 

The funding request is for $50,000. The grant funding will be used to complete a comprehensive analysis of current housing conditions, trends, and projected needs; to develop affordable housing policies that align with best practices as well as New York State’s pro housing communities agenda, and to implement strategies grounded in new partnerships and funding mechanisms to promote housing security in Allegany County. The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program, including progress towards beneficiary goals and program objectives, and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or to provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.

 

The public hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of the grant application. Comments on proposed project will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.
